CARBON LEAF TAPPED TO OPEN FOR
JASON MRAZ & BLUES TRAVELER
“This is a unique band -- subtle R.E.M.-flavored pop meets Outlaws-like rock/bluegrass,
with some Celtic touches added on pennywhistle and flute.” Boston Globe
SANTA MONCIA, CA – After completing a stint of opening dates with Jason Mraz, Carbon Leaf will begin dates with labelmates Blues Traveler. Since the July 2004 release of their Vanguard Records debut, Indian Summer, the Richmond, VA-based band has been winning over new fans nationwide with their “subtle R.E.M.-flavored pop meets Outlaws-like rock/bluegrass, with some Celtic touches added on pennywhistle and flute” (Boston Globe). They will join Mraz beginning Oct. 4, with stops in the U.S. and Canada, then continue touring in the States with Blues Traveler beginning Oct. 14. (Full tour itinerary is below)
Mraz and Blues Traveler are the latest addition to an impressive list of acts that Carbon Leaf has toured with nationwide including the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Counting Crows, O.A.R., David Gray, Michael Tolcher, Big Head Todd & the Monsters and Guster. Since the release of Indian Summer, they have earned a top 5 Triple A radio hit with the single “Life Less Ordinary,” been featured on the nationally televised Dr. Phil Show, and relentlessly toured the U.S. amassing a solid fan base.
After years as a do-it-yourself band, the Richmond, VA-based five-piece signed with venerable independent label Vanguard Records. Their fourth album, Echo Echo, yielded the Triple A radio hit, “The Boxer,” which was featured in a national media campaign for Pontiac’s “Vibe,” and was performed live before a global television audience when Carbon Leaf won an American Music Award for “Best Unsigned Band in America.”
