POP-ROCKERS CARBON LEAF CELEBRATE A “LIFE LESS ORDINARY” ON THE DR. PHIL SHOW

Los Angeles, CA - Vanguard recording artists Carbon Leaf taped a performance for the Dr. Phil show on Thursday, November 18. The five-piece pop-rock band appropriately closed an episode about aspiring musicians trying to get their break in the entertainment industry. The performance of the band’s hit single, "Life Less Ordinary," from their album, Indian Summer, had the 350-person audience on its feet clapping enthusiastically. The episode will air November 30.

Dr. Phil McGraw, who has the number 2 show behind Oprah, with 5-6 million viewers a day, introduced the band by explaining they had been in the business for years and had finally been granted their break in 2003 when they signed with Vanguard Records. "I heard these guys in rehearsal and told the producers we need more time for their performance because these guys are good. You all have a copy of the CD under your seat and when you hear this first song you'll understand what a great deal that is," Dr. Phil told the audience.

After years as a do-it-yourself (DIY) band, Richmond, VA-based Carbon Leaf signed with Vanguard Records in 2003, and thereafter released their sixth album, Indian Summer. They’ve recently enjoyed a top 5 hit at Triple A radio with the first single, “Life Less Ordinary.” A video for the song, directed by Elliott Lester (Jason Mraz, Five For Fighting,) was recently shot in the Los Angeles area.

Another guest on the Dr. Phil show was Shawn Pander, a singer/songwriter who is trying to get his start in the music business. Pander was presented a contract from Vanguard Records for a demo recording session in Nashville with Grammy-winning producer Steve Buckingham. Buckingham has produced artists such as Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Sinéad O'Connor, and Dionne Warwick.
