» ROAD NOTES: Harborfest

This was a great event. It was held in downtown Norfolk. There were several blocks roped off from cars so people could mingle freely. Lots of vendors - food, jewelry, clothing, etc. - and lots of people. Throw in a little sunshine and you have all the makings of a good Carbon Leaf show. There were 4 stages in all - we played the Local Talent stage. We weren't local and "talent" is pretty subjective. Oh well - there we were. We hopped up after a sea-shanty trio (they were quite entertaining) and began to set up. We were ready to roll in no time flat. No line check, no sound check, no time to pee - it was off to the races. Carolyn (our new PERMANENT sound woman!) did an awesome job get things dialed in. We had a lot of people come out to see us, as well as a lot of first-timers. It made for a great set. And the cannon fire in between each song was an especially nice touch. When we were done we hopped off stage, hung out for a bit, packed up and headed home. It was a good end to a good weekend.
