» ROAD NOTES: Gluttony Fest (Arts Festival)

This was the test. This was when we would know the extent of the water-damage from the Blackstone soaking. We had all done some damage control the night before, after we got home from Blackstone. Carter, Terry and Jordan aired out their guitars/bass's and pedals; I removed all the heads from my drums and wiped all my hardware and cymbals dry. It seemed as though most everything was going to survive. And now we know - big black dark ominous looking clouds = rain = pack up and head for cover. We headed to the gig about 12 noon; Jordan, Barry and Carter all drove separate, so it was Terry (and Brit) and me (and Jamie) and Carolyn (sound woman extraordinaire) in the van. We arrived without a hitch (problem, that is). Parking was a bit of an issue, but nothing Terry couldn't overcome. We unloaded and began to set up. It was a fitting end to our weekend when we found that our set had been cut by 30 minutes. No big deal though. We started, played a fun set (the crowd was really great - especially the mysterious dancing couple) and packed up. No worries. Jordan headed off with Jen; Carter headed off with Mark; Barry headed off with his pipes. The rest of us got some (very good) food and waded in the ocean for a while. Then we piled back in the van (Terry backed it out like a champ) and headed home. What a weekend.
