Barry's Road Journal 10.16.01 We're crossing Utah now and all the salt flats. Nothing but flat saltlands and distant, barren ridges. I'ts beautiful and the sky is blue and wide. Much open space. I think this is where they set the land speed record. Good place for it. We drove through the night and it was a bumpy one. We stopped at the edge of the Great Salt Lake at a truck stop and ate around noon. Most truck stop people are friendly, and they have women who cook some pretty hearty food. I sunk $5 into a virtual video game called Omaha Beach 2000, or Beach Head 2000 or something, and killed many, many soldiers and blew up many, many aircraft as they landed on shore. It felt really good. This satiated my nerves of being on a bus with 7 other people and we were ready to hit the road again. Gladiator has been playing on a loop for three days now and the TV is about to get thrown out the window by moi. I did buy Carrie at the truck stop and will commandier the vcr later this eve. We're heading to Nevada - Elkoe, or something like that. Not sure what's in Elkoe, but I'm willing to be there will be slot machines somewhere. I heard you can't go into a supermarket in Nevada without finding a slot machine. I must make sure I spend all my money before I get there, so as not to lose it all.
