Barry's Notes 10.29.01 - JAN. 9...? Sitting in the Dallas, Fort Worth Airport after a brief flight out of Houston. Everyone's a little tired. We made it to the Top 3 last night at Texas A&M in College Station, TX, along with Live Honey (New York) and Yo Flaco (Denver). These bands, along with Carbon Leaf, are now considered official candidates for the Coca-Cola New Music Award, a new award that will be part of the American Music Awards starting in '02. The three bands will fly to L.A. and compete January 7th, 2002; the winning band will perform live and receive the 1st Annual New Music Award on the AMA telecast on Jan. 9. It's sad to see the tour end, but will be nice to get back to a normal schedule, the surmounting work that's been piling up, and the planning and preparing for the things to come. Most of all, it will be great to get back and play for the supportive fans that have been holding us up all these years! The experience was great. We met a lot of nice folks, and played our music for a lot of new people across the country and back. Special thanks to the bands Jennifer Marks, Yo Flaco, Live Honey and Fade for being so cool. Thanks to Michael Jackson, Jeff Schunk, Cliff and Chris with Clear Channel, and of course our bus driver Bill for getting us there alive and back. Lastly, thanks to Coke, the AMA's, CMJ, Dick Clark Communications, Weber Shandwick and ALL the gracious and cool people we met who work for them for the groovy opportunity to simply be apart of a Unique Thing. Til January then.....
