» ROAD NOTES: CD Release Party

What an amazing night this was. Thanks to those of you who attended our Richmond CD Release Party for Echo Echo....our first SOLD OUT SHOW! There were over 1,000 people in attendance that night, and the band was truly blown away by the support. It was great to see everyone happy and singing and moving around as best they could!

Butch Taylor joined us on keyboards and Carlos Chafin on accordion for the evening, and I wanted to just sit there and watch them all night. They were so amazing and generous, and I think the fans really dug the additional sounds. We offered them free beer and maybe some food in exchange for going on the road with us. I believe they're thinking it over. Thanks Butch and Carlos for an unforgettable evening!

It was a long day (and a long week, month, year...) preparing for the night, and hopefully no one left unhappy, or empty handed - EVERYONE should have gotten a CD, upstairs and downstairs. Please let me know if you did not. We're sorry about those of you who were not able to get to the first floor because of being under 21, I guess that's been the bar's policy. Let me know what your birds' eye view was on the evening. Hopefully we can work something out differently next time. End Apartheid!!

Anyway, these are YOUR shows, as much as ours. We would like everyone's feedback on the night, particularly in regards to how we can make upcoming shows better for everyone, more convenient and more enjoyable....give us your wish list. Give us any observations, grievances, peevances, thoughts on the venue etc. Send them to cleaf@erols.com. I've already made some notes regarding the pre-sale tics vs. walk ups, so hopefully there won't be such long lines next time. For the people who didn't buy pre-sale tics: Thanks for waiting so long before being let in! We had to make sure that the pre-sale tickets were honored. I promise it will be more efficient next time.

In a nutshell, we want to make performances hassle and stress-free. You get enough stress during the week. The focus should be on music and UN-winding.

Thanks to everyone behind the scenes who helped make the night a success, and thanks Crenshaw for opening up the 2nd show! Thanks, also, to all the Richmond Press who has been so gracious in covering the band over the years.
